Site Login is Broke
|
I'm very sorry, but user login is currently broke across all PaleHour sites. Our host screwed up PHP Sessions which has caused no end of issues. Hopefully they will resolve it soon.
Update:
Everything is fixed now!
Update Again:
Images are also broke in posts.
Update Again Again:
Ok, same hack worked for these. What is your problem 1and1?

Community Flickr Images
|
I just got through adding another new little widget to the left hand column. Right under the Twitters section, you'll see a similar looking Flickr section.
You'll most likely only see images from Gogh's and my account at this point, but using the user profile, any PaleHour participant can add their Flickr account to the list.
Make sure you read the little blurb of info below the field in your profile so that you understand which Flickr ID to use.
Also, because of the way Flickr feeds work, PaleHour will only receive the 20 most recently posted images across all accounts. So, if you haven't posted any photos in a while, you may not see any of yours on PaleHour right away.

Twitter!
|
I finally bit the bullet and created a Twitter account this morning. Then I got the itch to add it as a feature on PaleHour.
Right now you'll notice a new section in the left hand column that probably features only my Twitters at this point. Here's the cool part. Every account on PaleHour now has the option of adding their Twitter ID to their profile. If you add it and your Twitter account is public, you'll show up in the left hand column too.
Hurrah!
Also, while I was messing with the profiles, I added the ability to add a personal site. If you put that in, your name will link back to it whenever you post a comment.

Amazon.com Referrals
|
I'm sure you noticed the newly added Amazon links over in the left column of PaleHour. (If you didn't, turn off your ad blocking =P) In an effort to start trying to get my hosting paid for, I've been looking for some way of generating a little bit of revenue. Since I shop at Amazon all the time, I think their associate program may be the best bet.
So, from now on I'm going to be putting links to one or two recent game releases that I'm interested in over there, as well as a generic Amazon search tool and their lightning deals widget.
Hosting costs for PaleHour cost around 12-15 dollars a month on average. I know that's pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things, but those Amazon ads pay out around 4% on each purchase, so it could add up!
So anyway, if you are going to be buying something from Amazon, please go through my links if you don't mind. :)

New Features!
|
Another set of new features just got trickled out to all of the PHN sites. The most obvious change is probably the little orange RSS icon in the upper right. Now readers will be able to subscribe to pages.
Also, now that posts have been accumulating, I added an archive feature to the right column so that posts can be quickly found by date.
Lastly, a simple request was made that the subject lines of posts link to the comment / perma-link versions as well. That has been implemented.
The next thing on my list is to implement better user profiles. It's a ways off, as I'd like to get started on another project in the meantime, but I'll take any suggestions you may have in the comments section of this post.
