Technology Challenge
|
I’m a "technology challenge" winner!
As an art teacher at McQuaid, I was quite excited about a technology challenge hosted by the technology department in which the best faculty websites were promoted and voted on by the school. I showcase a lot of student artwork on my site and have been trying out a student blog in my digital art class, so I was eager about this opportunity. The top 5 websites won a tech gadget of their choosing and I chose a Kindle. Thank you McQuaid!
I’ve been intrigued by Amazon's Kindle because books get zapped into your hands pretty instantaneously! What book should I get first…I’m thinking something related to spring! I’ve got major gardening on the brain!

Day Eight
|
Wednesday, July 30th Agenda
Hey, I we didn't group critique! After reading today's posts, let's do a quick critique – open your comics and get ready!
Then...
1. Finish up everything for website and save for web in a folder on the desktop called “namesite”. You can also make a background instead of using plain color using photoshop and save that to the folder as well.
2. Watch Dreamweaver demo carefully. Read handy dandy handout when stuck. Is there anything else you want to include on your site? Upload this folder to the ftp.
3. Debug
Above is a comic from The Secret Friend Society and below is a experimental comic by Rebecca. Make sure you click on them!

Twitter!
|
I finally bit the bullet and created a Twitter account this morning. Then I got the itch to add it as a feature on PaleHour.
Right now you'll notice a new section in the left hand column that probably features only my Twitters at this point. Here's the cool part. Every account on PaleHour now has the option of adding their Twitter ID to their profile. If you add it and your Twitter account is public, you'll show up in the left hand column too.
Hurrah!
Also, while I was messing with the profiles, I added the ability to add a personal site. If you put that in, your name will link back to it whenever you post a comment.

Site Launch
|
The website for the series is up and running! Special thanks to Mike Gamin for this amazing blog engine, and to Janis Acampora for all her drawing advice. As may be more or less evident on the site, my expertise is in 3D graphics, not so much with traditional drawing. But I'm ever so slowly improving, and I do have fun with it. Like it or hate it, you'll have a chance to see plenty more of my drawing once the webcomic gets underway at the beginning of the new year. And now I've given myself a deadline for the trailer too, so keep an eye out for that.
And also since I didn't get to post it last week, here's an image of Peter with his new sss shaders.
